Kicking Ass in Heels.

Walking around downtown at night all by yourself is not always safe. Or even having the main entrance to your building broken brings on safety concerns.

I often see women walking by themselves around downtown at night. Sometimes they are taking their dog out for a walk, or walking to/from a bar/restaurant/club etc.

Here is a video that shows some useful moves on how to fend off an attacker. All while wearing skirt and heels.

I just got off the phone with 911.

I heard a woman screaming outside my window. I got up from my computer to take a look outside, and found a car that was running parked in the middle of the street with some man chasing a woman around the car in circles.

I quickly reached for the phone to call 911 and when I came back to the window, I saw the man drive off in the car.

It kind of looked like a car jacking. But who knows really.

I have lost track of how many times I have had to phone up 911 in this town (I have lived in the Arts District, Hollywood, and Historic Core of downtown).

I am interested in hearing how pedestrians deal with harrassment.

I think just about any woman that has walked around downtown has had to deal with harassment in some shape or form. I have certainly had to deal with it (although not so much now compared to a few years ago when I lived in a different part of downtown).

Here is a link to a post by Celia of 5th and Spring. (The story is towards the end of the post).
